OATMEAL – REGULARLY UNDERESTIMATED

Good old superfood

Many of the foods that are labeled as superfoods have health-promoting
effect is attributed, require a longer research. Where
and in what form I get acai berries, chia seeds are cooked,
steamed or eaten raw? What is the life cycle assessment of the transport
faraway countries? It is easy to forget a superfood that is available in almost all supermarkets and whose beneficial properties have been known for decades. Often forgotten or underestimated: Oatmeal.

Oatmeal in the morning guarantees a healthy start to the day. But not every morning is the same – three suggestions for three days.

WHEN YOU HAVE TIME

A classic Bircher muesli you prepare it best already the evening before and goes to sleep with the good conscience to start the next day quite healthy.

Ingredients for about 2 servings: 1 small apple, 1 small pear, 6-8 tablespoons whole grain oatmeal, natural yogurt, milk or buttermilk to taste, 1 tablespoon flaxseed, 1 tablespoon walnuts, 3 dates, 1 dash lemon juice, ½ tablespoon cinnamon.

Pear and apple grate and sprinkle with lemon juice. Slice the dates and mix everything with the remaining ingredients. The muesli should swell for at least 15 minutes. If preparing the night before, place in the refrigerator overnight and remove in time in the morning for the Bircher Muesli to come to room temperature.

WHEN IT HAS TO GO FAST

Ingredients: 1 banana, 3 tablespoons blueberries, 2 tablespoons almonds, oatmeal, milk, natural yogurt or buttermilk according to taste.

Cut banana into small pieces, sprinkle with citron juice and mix with the remaining ingredients. Done.

WHEN A COOL VACATION DAY LIES AHEAD OF YOU

Ingredients: Rolled oats, water, milk, a pinch of sea salt, salted butter, brown sugar, cinnamon and the best whiskey you have on hand or can order.

Bring oatmeal to a boil with water and milk and a pinch of sea salt and divide among deep plates. Using a teaspoon, make small wells in the porridge and melt small pieces of the salted butter in them. Sprinkle the oatmeal generously with brown sugar and cinnamon and finish with the whiskey and enjoy.
