The new color that looks old
The PANTONE Color Institute has named Peach Fuzz the color of the year 2024
Between pink and orange
The annual presentation of the color of the year by the color institute PANTONE is not inferior to the OSCAR award ceremony in terms of pathos.
PANTONE says: “At a time when so many areas of our lives are characterized by unrest and turmoil, our need for caring, empathy and compassion is ever stronger … PANTONE Peach Fuzz 13-1023 offers a fresh approach to new softness: a caring and empathetic peach shade that expresses our desire for belonging with others and the feelings that arise from it.”
The analysis is right and empathy is certainly important and correct. But in these times, wouldn’t a clear, self-confident, future-oriented color be in order instead of a pale color with a vintage character that lies somewhere between pink and orange?
In view of the war against Ukraine and many other conflicts, we would prefer a color that cannot be overlooked and takes a stand.
The new color of the year 2024 already feels old and wrong in January. The colors of previous years had more originality.
With all our love for vintage
According to Pantone, the color should deliberately remind us of vintage. And it does. But not everything that has passed has to return. Peach Fuzz lacks freshness: neither pink nor orange, neither exciting nor calming. Rather a non-color that doesn’t hurt anyone and evokes few emotions.
The color peach fuzz will be a common sight in the housings of cell phones, kitchen appliances, carpets, curtains, cosmetics and clothing in the near future.
As the PANTONE Color Institute bases its color selection on color trends that are already visible, here we report on the selection process, some products in the color Peach Fuzz can already be found on the market.
The fashion industry will not miss out on the color trend either, even if the color is not so easy to combine. It works best with a fresh white and fresh orange.
Prefer fresh peaches
Fresh peaches, on the other hand, are clearly a favorite fruit of GloriousMe. The fresh peach has a radiant hue with reddish nuances that has little to do with the soft, pastel, one-dimensional Peach Fuzz.
Let’s take note of the color of the year 2024 but not take it too seriously and look forward to the next possible Bellini in Harry’s Bar in Venice or in our own home. The latter we will certainly do without a hint of the color Peach Fuzz.
