FACE MASSAGE WITH OIL

Farewell to the day and the soft start
into a restful sleep

Photo booth, the selfie on the screen, shows it to us relentlessly: we usually sit with strained faces in front of the screen. Concentrated or simply tired – the result of the selfie with a view of the screen is rarely beneficial. It shows us which muscles of the face we tense when working at the computer and often remain in this tension for hours.

We come to the same conclusion when we look at our fellow passengers in the open-plan compartment of the train: Bent over the keyboard of the laptop, staring at the screen of the smartphone, interrupted only by the check of the train ticket, we see wrinkled foreheads, downward hanging corners of the mouth, rigid neck postures and strained eyes, which look with maximum concentration often for several hours on the brightly lit display.

Everyday life rarely gives us time and opportunity to laugh, close our eyes and relax our facial muscles. Even when we are not sitting at the computer, our facial expressions are controlled and focused, rarely relaxed and casual.

Evening ritual

All the more important is a ritual in the evening, with which we consciously say goodbye to everyday life and the associated efforts of the facial muscles. At the same time, we create the best conditions for a gentle start to a restful sleep: THE FACE MASSAGE WITH OIL.

First, the face should be cleaned and, in particular, all eye make-up should be removed. The oil is distributed on the face with circular movements. However, to achieve the desired effect, it takes time and repetition. To counteract the long hours of tension a few minutes are necessary. This is where repetition and conscious counting helps:

30 CIRCULAR MOVEMENTS OF THE FINGERTIPS ON THE FOREHEAD
30 FINGER STROKES ON THE SLEEPS
30 CIRCLES AROUND THE EYE AREA
30 GENTLE CIRCLES IN THE PARTS OF THE CORNERS OF THE MOUTH
30 GENTLE STROKES ON THE CHIN

The oil soothes and after a while we notice how these parts begin to relax. Light oils with soothing substances and subtle fragrance enhance the positive effect.

This does NOT belong on the to-do list

However, the most important prerequisite for this is not to see your own facial massage as just another item on the daily to-do list that also has to be worked off quickly and as efficiently as possible. To achieve the desired effect, it is important to consciously allow yourself to rest and relax, and to consciously invest the time to counteract the tension of the facial muscles.

The oil is then removed with lukewarm water. The result of the evening ritual is immediately noticeable – with a relaxed facial expression, an important step has been taken towards a deep restful sleep.
