Time is our most precious commodity
Our fate does not depend on the stars, but on our actions (William Shakespeare)
A largely positive balance sheet
At the turn of the year, it’s worth taking a look at last year’s resolutions. Sometimes you are amazed at what and how much you had planned for the end of the year and realize that your subconscious has obviously forgotten many of them. steps in the desired direction.
We were able to put many of our GloriousMe plans for 2023 into action, which we are delighted about – some things remain on the list of plans and wishes for the coming year.
We hope your annual balance sheet is just as pleasing.
Impatience – the motto of 2024
The GloriousMe motto for last year’s New Year was: Stop & Go. To pause more often and reflect on what and how we could do things better.
This motto of patience is facing a year of impatience. While last year’s motto was Stop & Go, our motto for the coming year is: Go. Go. Go: Don’t put off until tomorrow what you can do today.
Go. Go. Go.
In the movie“Dead Poets Society”, the teacher, played by the wonderful actor Robin Williams, advises his students: “Carpe diem. Seize the day boys. Make your lives extraordinary.”
Many artists are driven by an impatience to push ahead with many things at the same time.
This impatience has also affected us. Many experiences in the year that is coming to an end have made us lose our patience with naivety in every respect and we wish many things would progress more quickly.
Our thoughts for the coming year are also shaped by the fear that there may not be an infinite amount of time left for many things.
Go. Go. Go. Plain text instead of clauses
People often avoid speaking plainly in their daily interactions for fear of offending others. The opposite is the case. It often takes more time to find a solution if you don’t clearly state what you think is good and what you think is less good.
Plain language does not mean that the words have to hurt. However, plain language saves a lot of time and the best possible solution can be reached more quickly. This leaves more time for other things.
Go. Go. Go. To Paris
Half of GloriousMe has spontaneously decided to spend the days between the years in Paris. A wonderful form of impatience. Not talking about how nice it would be to be in Paris right now, but booking train tickets and going there.
Marvel at the Christmas lights in the elegant city on the Seine, visit world-class museums, enjoy bistros and restaurants and not only think about how nice it would be not to spend the time between Christmas and the New Year in your own familiar city, but to experience inspiration for the New Year in the off-season in an inspiring city.
Go. Go. Go. To Japan
Many GloriousMe readers are familiar with our enthusiasm for Japan. For us, Japan is our dream country. But for others it could be Austria, Scotland, Portugal, Thailand or Buthan. A country to which the soul feels drawn. A country where you feel at home. A country where you want to explore every nook and cranny.
Don’t wait, travel.
Go. Go. Go. To the university
There are happy people who have found their dream job and who don’t see their work as work, but as a daily privilege. Even then, there may still be a passion that they would have liked to pursue more deeply.
Whether at university, in an evening class, an online masterclass or with a private music teacher at the piano. Don’t wait any longer and dream about it, immerse yourself in the heartland.
Go. Go. Go. Get loud instead of watching
We no longer have the patience to watch the people of Ukraine being destroyed in every respect and many people in the West believe that this is none of their business and that they can come to terms with a divided Ukraine or a direct neighbor, Russia.
Our patience has run out, listening to people who promise themselves more power and influence by opening the door to Russia. Their numbers are growing by the day. We will not remain silent and naively hope that this nightmare will pass Europe by.
