Personality in the form of paper
In an almost completely digitalized world, private stationery signals style
Personality instead of pixels
Whenever it’s really important, we reach for pen and paper. The joy of a special event or mourning for someone doesn’t seem personal enough in digital form.
Paper and fountain pen are the tried and tested means of choice. The subtle signal reaches the recipient. Even the weight of the chosen paper or card communicates a subtle message. A letter or card is picked up and unconsciously weighed in the blink of an eye.
Writing culture
Digital correspondence is indispensable and helps to get many things done efficiently. With the increasing use of artificial intelligence, many things are becoming much faster, but also more anonymous and interchangeable.
In the flood of digitally sent pictures and words, old-fashioned postcards (which in some countries are now only available in vintage stores) put a smile on your face as soon as you open your letterbox and see that someone has thought of you in a beautiful place.
The digitally self-designed postcard, made with your own pictures, is also a wonderful gesture that goes far beyond the WhatsApp status in terms of thought and choice and lasts longer than 24 hours.
We were also delighted with the Easter greetings on the cards from the GloriousMe store. It is the gesture that counts and the time that someone has invested in creating individual lines or a thank you.

There’s more to it
If you want to increase style and individuality, there is a nice idea that we would like to remind you of as inspiration: Customized stationery.
In earlier times a popular gift for teenagers on their way to adulthood, today an elegant way to express your own personality at any age within the global expanse of terabytes.
Whenever it can and should be a little more personal, individually designed stationery has far more charm and expressiveness than any faceless white sheet of paper.
In every city
If you want to have customized stationery printed, you could of course turn to the large online digital printing companies. Apart from the fact that creating a professional print PDF is not quite as easy as it looks, the bread and butter business of these print shops is the cheap flyer that you can find on every corner.
The paper qualities are based on this and the majority of the papers used in these printers cannot be written on with ink. Because that’s not what they are designed for: a cheap high gloss instead of the velvety paper depth that the fountain pen enjoys when it is swung.
In almost every town there is still the Gallic village of a traditional print shop that also prints very short runs and helps with typesetting. The result: more individual and classy and usually not as expensive as you might think at first glance.
If the last surviving print shop in your town or district has already had to close its doors, there are of course alternatives.

Modern look or old school?
If it’s pop art that inspires you, the friendly print shop Herr und Frau Rio in Munich could be a favorite for you. Using the special printing method of risography, they create small, colorful treasures that will make your correspondence a feast for the eyes.
If you’d rather go old school, you’re sure to find what you’re looking for at Prantl in Munich. After all, the Prantl family company has been in business since 1797 and HRH Prince Regent Luitpold of Bavaria, H.M. Elisabeth Empress of Austria, Richard Strauss and Maria Callas all knew where to obtain steel engraving prints for their personal correspondence.
Where the Queen and King of England choose their paper
The trained eye recognizes the stationery of the English company Smythson. Since 1887, Smythson of Bond Street has developed a distinctive style that lets insiders know from the quality of the paper and the lining of the envelopes that it is a Smythson product.

Royal warrants, which identify Smythson as a supplier to the English royal family, are of course part of this. The late Queen Elizabeth, her mother and the then Prince of Wales, now King Charles III of England, knew and know where to get stylish stationery printed with the royal coat of arms.
Impressive elegance can be found in Paris
In addition to the wide range of options for personally selecting the color, grammage, font and font colors, there is also the option of having the paper embossed with an individual seal.
Trendsetter Ramdane Touhami, who very successfully revived the traditional brand Officine Universelle Buly before selling the company to the luxury group LVMH, is once again one step ahead.
Ramdane Touhami bought the last embossing machines still available in France for individual seals on paper, had employees trained in their use and now offers the service of having stationery made with a seal in his latest store Papier Royal in the beautiful Palais Royal in Paris.

The Palais Royal has always had a special charm. There are now many interesting cafés in the arcades, which are the perfect place to have a coffee and a piece of cake after a visit to Papier Royal and think about which embossing stamp you would like.
Companies come and go
Since our main job is to advise companies on their brand strategy and brand presence, we know only too well how long-lasting brand profiles can be or how quickly a long brand history can be destroyed by sales, mergers, profile-seeking CEOs or completely new business models.
Your own personality and signature, on the other hand, are shaped at an early age and can remain constant throughout your life. Time to give them expression with personalized stationery.
