The desire to learn
A lot has happened with our readers since our article on “Learning something new” about a year ago. We are pleased to report on this:
Musical readers and readers
The topic that has made most of our readers want to learn something new is music.
Four readers have decided to take singing lessons for the first time in their lives. In doing so, they have broadened their horizons in two ways. Vocal training is beneficial for the voice and the soul.
Training your singing voice pays off for the presence of your own voice – in lectures, presentations, in all professions where the voice is in high demand.
Musical enjoyment
But readers also discovered the traditional concert hall for the first time and enjoyed attending classical concerts.
Madame Butterfly inspired one of our readers to enter the opera house for the first time for a live performance and we hope it doesn’t stop there.
Experiencing the power of music live and together with other listeners is a very special experience. It has been proven that the heart rates of visitors to an opera performance converge when they experience music together.
Playing the piano in Buenos Aires
The musical discoveries of our readers remind us of a particularly impressive example of new horizons from an acquaintance: a sabbatical from a law firm was used to fly to Buenos Aires, rent an apartment with a grand piano and hire a piano teacher. Finally time to immerse himself in the keys and learn something new.
Buenos Aires seems to have a special attraction for new horizons: A reader took her first tango lessons there and is thrilled.
No greengrocer can compete with that
It all started with a raised bed for one of our readers last spring. The joy of planting her own vegetables was so great that she now has a whole series of raised beds.
Anyone who has ever enjoyed the luxury of cutting a salad from the raised bed and preparing and enjoying the fresh lettuce straight away can certainly understand this. We doff our sun hats, because no pain, no gain, also applies to gardening. Chapeau!
Yoga mat always works
The great advantage of yoga is the fact that after a few lessons you don’t need more than a yoga mat, which you can spread out almost anywhere. Two readers tried this out for the first time last year and learned to appreciate it.
Off to new shores
And with GloriousMe?
Different yoga teachers in Frankfurt, Bangkok and in the Swiss mountains have expanded our knowledge of asanas. We felt that every single minute of it was an important time in our lives.
Learning on a sailing boat was also on the agenda: a great challenge that requires sporting commitment, balance, dealing with wind, weather and technology as well as large amounts of sunscreen.
Learning something new has many advantages:
- New horizons bring new perspectives
- You get to know similarly enthusiastic people
- Body, mind and soul stay awake
Broaden your horizons? You can take that literally and book a trip to Norway and take the spectacular climb to the 375-metre-high Himakånå rock formation. Thank you very much for sharing this view and this great cover picture.
And one of our readers is firmly convinced that a new hobby, a new passion leads to a broadening of horizons and thus to more charisma.
A new job sometimes requires new equipment and new clothes. How nice that you can promote the circular economy with sailing shoes from 8Beaufort, which are made from old sails.
What new things have you learned in the past year? We look forward to hearing from you.
